Roleplaying a Mercenary
Mercs come in all shapes and sizes, from the hard nosed to the mysterious. It's up to you how your character is portrayed, but here's a few guide lines if you intended on reaching any positions of note!

Your typical mercenary is indifferent to fighting, but is not necesarily evil. He'll gladly fight and defend his employer but will not actively seek conflict to become involved in.

Follow your company leaders orders. If he calls for you to ally yourself with a dark power or put yourself at odds on a matter. Then if you want to get payed, follow those orders or leave the company.

Be reasonable when dealing with people and don't expect everyone to like you. Feel free to quote your alliegance when questioned, you are a mercenary by trade and there is nothing illegal about that.

We aren’t just a group of Rogues, or petty thieves. We exist as a Mercenary Company of Soldiers, and if there is something vital to our success as a “business” its discipline. Its expected that rank structure be respected at all times, and mercenaries who step out of place are often harshly dealt with. A lack of ability to follow orders to the letter can place the entire company at danger, and so isn’t something that is tolerated.

Above all, have fun. The Copper Serpents are a loose military organisation. Each squad is as strict as its Sergeant wants it to be.
